PC Support Analysis - IT Careers
Salary Range:
£17,000 - £26,000
Recognised Qualifications:
Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
Key Responsibilities:
- High end support for hardware and software issues
- Troubleshooting server and network problems
- Monitoring and reporting on use of network resources
- Running regular back up procedures
- Assist in the roll out of new software
- Maintain and improve the efficiency of server, desktop and LAN environments
- Impart technical knowledge to other staff or clients
- Some helpdesk duties including taking and logging calls, resolving 1 st and 2 nd line support issues, installation of hardware and providing assistance by phone, email or remote access.
A Typical Day for a PC Support Analyst:
As a PC Support Analyst you will be taking on a wide variety of tasks each day. You will provide first and second line support for clients and colleagues, troubleshooting issues such has failure to connect to internet or email accounts, software glitches and broken printers. In addition to this you may be required to perform back up procedures on the network, monitor and report on usage of the network and take steps to maintain network efficiency. This could include running port scans, analysing traffic and bandwidth reports and maintaining routing tables.
