PC Help Technician - IT Careers
Salary Range:
£16,000 - £25,000
Recognised Qualifications:
Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)
Key Responsibilities:
- Answering helpdesk calls
- Logging helpdesk calls and emails and ensuring they are followed through, delegating where necessary
- Creating and administration of user accounts
- Providing support for windows based and in house software applications
- Set up, install and support hardware include printers and terminals
- Provide support for internet and email connections
- Sourcing external assistance when required
A Typical Day for a PC Helpdesk Technician:
Your typical day as a PC helpdesk technician will include a wide variety of tasks, and no 2 days are likely to be the same. One day you may find yourself setting up workstations and associated hardware, setting up new user accounts and defining access levels, the next you could be responsible for updating the entire networks virus protection software. A large proportion of your time will be dedicated to providing support for system users, taking the initial enquiry, logging the call and seeing it through to conclusion where possible.
